Question: Who is Confident Presenter intended for?
Answer: Confident Presenter was created to help anyone who needs to give presentations as part of their work. These include executives, managers, and sales professionals who give presentations of any type--whether it is a presentation to their team or department, to prospective customers, or to a professional conference. The resources available through this site are also intended for self-employed professionals who want to increase their outreach to prospective clients and to the community. These may include coaches, therapists, health care professionals, trainers, entrepreneurs, fund raisers, designers, writers, attorneys, accountants, and other financial services providers.
Question: How do the Confident Presenter Audio Programs work?
Answer: Very simply. When you join our mailing list, you'll receive a periodic e-mail with a link to a new Audio Program--a practical, action-oriented lesson on how to use presentations more effectively. The Audio Lessons are 2-3 minutes long and always include one or more action step for applying the lesson immediately to your own situation. You'll also be able to read and print out the script so you can review it as often as you want. Every e-mail from us contains instructions for an easy 2-click process for unsubscribing from the list. By the way, we plan to add screen capture videos soon to some of upcoming programs. That way we can make it even easier to learn these important skills.
Question: Who's behind Confident Presenter?
Answer: Confident Presenter was developed by Dan Grandstaff, a business coach and consultant with an extensive public speaking background. He has been a business owner and a trainer, as well as a therapist and coach. He began developing these methods to improve his own presentations. As a therapist, he was often asked to help people with their fear of public speaking. After many years and more than 800 presentations of his own, he wrote the book Speaking as a Professional: Enhance Your Therapy or Coaching Practice through Presentations, Workshops, and Seminars (W.W.Norton & Co., 2004). His real love is coaching people in discovering and developing their own confidence in speaking. Even though he has worked with hundreds of people in person, through his Natural Speaking program and as an executive coach, he wanted a way to help others whom he might never meet in person. That's how the Confident Presenter programs were born.
Question: The idea of giving presentations terrifies me. I'm not sure I want to learn to give better presentations. I'd rather just avoid them.
Answer: I'm sure you know that fear of public speaking is one of the most common fears there is. If you really could avoid giving presentations, that might be fine. But presentations, in some form, are part of all our lives. And presentations are one of the most important factors in business and career success. Even if never give a presentation to a large group, you give presentations even when you present your work to a client, a prospect, a colleague, or a boss. You have to decide whether it is worth the work and discomfort to become a more confident presenter. I've seen the look on clients' faces when they get to where they can give an effective presentation they feel good about. In my mind, and theirs, I have no doubt that it is worth it.
